Arshile Gorky’s “Ante-Medusa”—a 1947 painting that is part of the Diocese’s collection—is currently on display as part of a Gorky exhibition at the Gagosian Gallery on Madison Avenue in New York.
The exhibition, which opened on Friday, May 6, centers on Gorky’s work during the year 1947, the last year of his life. Among its highlights is a recently discovered painting—“Untitled (Pastoral)”—that has never before been exhibited.
The Diocese’s Gorky collection is on deposit at the Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon, Portugal.
