Florence Avakian will give a talk titled “Adventures of a Freelance Journalist” on Thursday evening, May 5. Ms. Avakian is an accredited United Nations journalist who has contributed to both Armenian and non-Armenian publications on a range of topics. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, Boston Globe, Christian Science Monitor, San Francisco-Chronicle, and Baltimore Sun, among other publications. For more than two decades, she has been the voice of Armenian news in English for the Armenian Radio Hour of New Jersey.

A wine and cheese reception will follow the presentation. The event will be held in Guild Hall of the Diocesan Center (2nd Avenue at 35th Street) on Thursday, May 5 at 7 pm.
